Updates

2/1/03 - Please read the Announcement.

11/1/02 - Finished Part II of "Project Zero." Also added a page for my fan fiction awards and nominations. You can find both on the Fiction pages.

7/9/02 - Added a new story over on the Fiction pages called "Hansel and Gretal Retold," written by Annere, a new fic writer in the fandom.  Check it out and be sure to let her know what you think of it!

And in other news of the "Project Zero" kind, Part II is coming along quite nicely, thank you very much.  For those who are worried that I've abandoned it (and a few seem to be <g>), I assure you I am still working frantically on it, and the good news is I've finally gotten past the worst of the sections revision-wise, two sections I had to completely rewrite from scratch, and the revisions seem to be going faster again.   At the moment I'm shooting for a release date of the end of July, so...well, let's hope all goes well in Real Life with my job-hunting and I find a new job so I can settle into a regular daily schedule again.  <crosses fingers>  Thanks for the support and encouragement, everyone.  I really appreciate it!

Oh, and on a final note, for those viewers who are seriously missing their weekly dose of Daniel, be sure to check out the following link:

6/1/02 - Oh...wow.  I was pleasantly surprised by the nomination for "Parallel" in last year's Stargate SG1 Fan Fiction Awards, but this year's awards?  I'm literally floored by the response.  A HUGE "Thank You!" to those who nominated "Frozen Flame" and "Lost In a Kiss"!  I can't possibly thank you enough!  As a way of keeping track of everything (more for my own sake than anyone else's <g>), I've added an Awards and Nominations page over on my fiction pages.  Also, as a reminder for those in the United States who are still watching the show (sadly, not me -- I left the episode before Daniel did for...well...to be honest, a lot of reasons), Season 6 starts on the SciFi Channel this coming Friday night (June 7, 2002) at 9:00 p.m. EST -- note the time change!  You can check out the official schedule on their site here.

5/14/02 - Added Part I to a new fan fiction series-in-progress, "Project Zero," and returned my Stargate/Highlander/X-Files crossovers "Paradox" and "Parallel" to the Internet.

4/30/02 - Good news!  The Stargate SG-1 Compendium has a new home.  The new address is:

http://www.shahrazad.net/~sgcompendium/index.html

Please change your bookmarks and links to the new address!  Also, I've tried to fix all the intra-site links, but if you find some that still lead back to the Crosswinds server, please, please let me know by emailing me at sbagley814@hotmail.com.

I can't thank the kind folks at Shahrazad.net enough for the space.  Now with a reliable server (one that doesn't crash my browser whenever I try to browse it because of all of Crosswinds' ridiculous pop-ups), maybe I can get back to doing a bit of updating here, especially to the highly outdated links pages.  Heck, with plenty of room for expanding, too, maybe I can move my fiction pages and even bring some of my older fics like "Paradox" and "Parallel" back to the web.  We'll see.

And, as always, the latest news about the site will be announced first on the Stargate Compendium mailing list, so if you want to know when this page is updated, you might want to consider joining.

Once again, thanks to everyone for their support and patience!

4/18/02 - Oh, for crying out loud.  Crosswinds has deleted this entire site.  Again.

Gee, why am I not surprised?

That's it.  I've had it.  I'm moving the site.  I think I've given Crosswinds plenty of time to sort through their problems and get them all fixed...something that clearly hasn't happened.  I don't have time to keep re-uploading this site every six months.  So...let's try a new server and see if that one's more reliable, shall we?

I'm currently in the process of reuploading the Compendium elsewhere and will release the new address once everything's working.  Hopefully, this will be within the next few days, but of all the times for this to happen to the site, this is the absolute worst.  Real life is a nightmare right now.  Just rest assured I am aware of the problem and am working to fix it.

In the meantime, since the fiction pages are all stored on a completely different server, they're still available if you're looking for something to read.  Interested in seeing what I've got?  Click Here.

Keep checking back here for updates...or you can join the Stargate Compendium mailing list and I'll announce when the site is back up and running.

Thanks again for your patience!

3/17/02 - Added a new romance/humor fic called Lost In A Kiss to my fanfic pages.

11/26/01 - Finally finished adding a new story to my fanfic pages called Frozen Flame.  Please be sure to read the warnings before you start -- it's long, it's dark, and it has a pairing most people don't usually consider...but the pairing is there for a very good reason, not just for the sake of 'shippiness.'  Oh, and Paradox and Parallel have been removed...permanently.  They're still up at the Stargate Novel Archive, but they'll be removed the next time that archive updates.

8/6/01 - Added a new story to the Stargate fanfic pages: "Bitter Pills," an epilogue to the Season 5 episode "Threshold."  Also updated the Stargate Fan Fiction Pages and moved them to a new server, found here.  The rest of the Compendium will hopefully be moving within the next week or two.

7/6/01 - Still no updates...sorry about that.  As of yet, I'm busy writing...other things. <ahem>  Anyway, "Paradoxl" and "Parallel" are back online, unchanged from the previous versions, even though I'm still not exactly thrilled with the current version of either of them.  I extend my gratitude to whomever nominated "Parallel" for Best Crossover in the Stargate Fan Fiction Awards.  I'm truly flattered, and I suppose it's only fair to have the story online during the voting phase, eh?  In other news, the 500-page Action/Adventure, Drama, Angst, Fantasy, Romance novel that I hinted at in the last update, "Frozen Flame," has been put on hold indefinitely.  There's a huge, non-Stargate story in it that I'm hoping to use for an original novel (i.e. one I can make some money from that'll make the past eight months spent writing it worthwhile) and because of that, I have some concerns over copyrights and the availability of the SG version in the internet.  I love the Stargate version too much to abandon it completely, but I just don't know what to do with it right now.  We'll see; I'll let you know once I've made my decision.  I've also started working on what may or may not be another SG fan fiction series...that one's also iffy.  Sadly, all of this plus Real Life (i.e. work, summer school, and a writing strike during the month of June that's finally coming to an end) doesn't leave much time for work on the rest of the site.  I'm still searching for a new server to house the Compendium, and I'm debating keeping it open at all (except for the fiction pages) since there are so many other synopsis/quotes sites popping up everywhere.  I am hoping to update the links pages very soon, though, so keep checking back!

5/29/01 - Five months, huh?  Oh, that's...quite a while.  Ahem.  Believe it or not, this site isn't dead yet.  I've just...vanished...for awhile while trying to keep Heliopolis up-to-date and writing another novel that demanded to be written without any consideration to the other concerns in my life.  Sea Witch is still around and we should begin working on some more synopses soon...in theory, sometime during the next month.  At the moment, "Paradox" and "Parallel" have been removed from this site, maybe to return one day, maybe not. <shrugs>  We'll see.  They can both still be found at the Stargate Novel Archive.  In other news, Crosswinds appears to have added a rather irritating pop-up banner since my last update that makes browsing of the site virtually impossible; it's highly likely that I'll be moving to a new server in the near future.  If anyone has suggestions of a reliable free server, I'm open to them -- email me at sbagley814@hotmail.com.  Keep an eye out for another update soon, hopefully one sooner than five months from now. <bg>

12/13/00 - Two more synopses finished and added: Sea Witch has graciously completed the one for "Upgrades," and I've finished the one for "The Serpent's Venom."  "Crossroads," "Point of No Return," and "Chain Reaction" (which airs tonight in the UK) should be along shortly.  A few more graphics were also added for "Message in a Bottle," "The Fifth Race," "Foothold," "Upgrades," "The Curse," and "The Serpent's Venom."

11/30/00 - The synopsis for "The Other Side" is completed and up on the site, thanks once again to Sea Witch.  Synopses for "Upgrades" and "The Serpent's Venom" should be right around the corner.  Also, since no one's complained about the new graphics (yet <g>), I've added a few more -- "Cold Lazarus," "Solitudes," "Forever in a Day," "New Ground," and "Beneath the Surface."  More coming soon.

11/17/00 - Couple of updates this time.  Our wonderful AC has transcribed quotes for "The Curse," and I finally got around to writing the synopsis for it, yay!  Also, Sea Witch is back after a bit of a hiatus to help me keep working on the synopses, so the synopsis is also available now available for "Small Victories."  In other news, between working on the new Stargate fic mentioned last time (100 pages and counting...and no, there is absolutely no connection to "Paradox" and "Parallel" -- no Highlander or X-Files to be seen this time around, just some bizarre happenings on a dreary planet) and playing catch-up with homework, I've been working on redesigning the title graphics for each episode page.  A few scattered episode pages have been somewhat redesigned ("Children of the Gods," "The Nox," "Thor's Hammer," "There But For the Grace of God," "Bane," "A Matter of Time," "1969," "Learning Curve," "Small Victories," "Divide and Conquer," and "Window of Opportunity"...don't ask me why I chose those, they were just a random whim).  It's still in the tweaking phase, but I'm working on it.  The rest of the episodes will hopefully follow as soon as time permits.  Please let me know what you think of the new design.  (For those who want to know , the pictures come from Philip's Screen Captures Site.  If you haven't been there, check it out -- it's great!)

10/27/00 - Thanks to AC, quotes have been added to "Beneath the Surface," "Point of No Return," and "Tangent."  Sadly, the execs over at Showtime have changed their minds about showing "Chain Reaction" and "2010" before the end of this year, meaning we'll have to wait until January for the new eps.  On a side note, sorry about the delay with the synopsis for "The Curse" -- my school work's been backing up since I've spent the last two weeks working almost entirely on a weird new Stargate fic.  It's already 65 pages long and I'm just now getting into the real story, sigh.  Once I hit writer's block with that thing, hopefully I can catch up with my homework and then be able to persuade myself to write a few Season 4 synopses. =)

10/8/00 - Quotes have been added to "The Serpent's Venom," once again thanks to AC.  Also, a brand spankin' new section's been added to the Compendium, believe it or not.  Thanks to Chad, we've added a (hopefully) comprehensive listing similar to the Writers and Directors pages for all the Guest Stars who've appeared on the TV show.  If you've ever wanted to know which episodes certain characters (such as Dr. Fraiser or Major Davis) appeared in, check it out! =)

10/2/00 - Couple of things updated.  Quotes have been added to "The First Ones" and "Scorched Earth" -- huge thanks again to AC. =)  I've also randomly picked an episode from Season 4 ("Tangent") and (gasp!) wrote a full episode synopsis.  Hopefully this week or next week I'll be able to finish "The Curse" and "The Serpent's Venom" (another great episode, mind you -- keep them up, guys!) then move backward in time from there.  The episode titles for the final episodes of Season 4 have also been added to the Episodes pages.  The Writers and Directors pages are up-to-date.  Finally, head over to the Stargate Fiction section where we've added a new Fairy Tale by Catherine Craig, "Sam White and the Seven Chevrons," based on "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves."  Check it out, then be sure to email her and let her know what you thought of it!  More coming in the near future so check back soon. =)

9/24/00 - Ah, yes, now that was a Stargate episode.  This past Friday's ep, "The Curse," has restored my faith in the show, something that has been sorely lacking this season despite some excellent episodes.  Sorry for the terrible delay in updating; I'm trying to play catch-up but so far it's not working.  Give me a few weeks, 'kay?  Please?  Anyway, thanks once again to AC, quotes have been added to "Crossroads," "Divide and Conquer," "Window of Opportunity," and "Watergate."  Hopefully the rest will be coming soon, as will synopses for the first few episodes of Season 4.

7/21/00 - Egads, what the heck happened to Crosswinds?!  I get majorly distracted by Real Life for a few weeks and come back to find Crosswinds has "accidentally" deleted well over half my files?!  That's funny.  Anyway, I'm in the process of re-uploading all the files that were erased -- if you find some still missing, please, please let me know so I can re-upload them.  Anyway, sorry 'bout the no updates thing.  I still have absolutely no time, but thanks to my wonderful new helper, AC, we have quotes for the past three new episodes, "Small Victories," "The Other Side," and "Upgrades."  I also updated the Writers and Directors pages.  The quotes pages will be updated as soon as I'm 100% positive every missing page/file is back up and running.

6/30/00 - IMPORTANT MESSAGE, PLEASE READ!  We've got a bit of a good news/bad news scenario currently going on with the Stargate Compendium.  The good news?  The new season starts tonight and I'm not shutting the site down...yet.  The bad news?  Due to a number of very intense and important personal/family issues that have arisen, I no longer have the time nor the energy to transcribe quotes for new episodes, nor will I be able to write synopses immediately following the showing of the episode as I have in the past.  For the time being I will try to come up with a synopsis sometime during the week for the new episode, but that is not a guarantee -- eventually I will have to back away from working on the site altogether.  However, I've put a great deal of time and effort into this site and would hate to shut it down so I'd like to find someone qualified to pass it on to during the next few weeks.

If anyone would like to join the SG Compendium staff and transcribe quotes (or write detailed synopses, take your pick) for the new episodes, I'd love to add you to our group.  For that matter, if you'd like to help in any way, please let me know by emailing me at sbagley814@hotmail.com.  Just let me know a bit about yourself, what you'd like to do for the site, and whether you'd be willing to be placed on the mailing list for the Compendium workers.  (If you have any questions about the mailing list, please feel free to ask.)  Also, for those of you who emailed me several months ago about helping out with the site and I never got back to you about it due to time constraints, if you're still interested in working with us, please email me and resend your request, letting me know what part/parts of the site you'd have a preference working on.  This time, I sincerely hope to get back to you.

I appreciate everyone's support since the update of 3/14/00.  Your emails have been tremendously encouraging, and I send out my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you.  Sadly, though, emails supporting the site are unable to stop what goes on in Real Life.  I'll keep you updated on what's happening behind the scenes of the Compendium and for those of you who get to watch the new episode of Stargate tonight, "Small Victories," enjoy!  =)

6/8/00 - Thanks to Helen, we now have a section of quotes specifically for Jack and Daniel.  Be forewarned--the files are pretty big.  Also, the Links pages have been updated to add a ton of new sites and fix some outdated links.  Enjoy!  =)

5/18/00 - It certainly would have helped if I had included the link on the banner below, wouldn't it?  Sorry, the link works now.  Anyway, the last seven chapters of "Parallel" are now complete and available in the fiction section.  This includes Ch. 22: "New Day Dawning," Ch. 23: "Advantageous Parallels," Ch. 24: "Captive Souls," Ch. 25: "Acquaintances," Ch. 26: "Sooner Than Later," Ch. 27: "Intersection," and Ch. 28: "Final Doorway."  Finally, it's finished and I can move on with life and start working on the rest of this web page again!  A full text version of "Parallel" will be available hopefully later today or tomorrow before I leave on a much-needed two-week vacation.  Check back soon, and thank you for all your patience! =)

5/11/00 - Nope, sorry, not an update on "Parallel" and if you're not a fan of the X-Files, you don't even have to read any further since this is really off topic for Stargate.  Anyway, if you've been following "The X-Files" for any length of time, you might (or might not) know that there are currently major discussions going about whether or not there'll be an eighth season of the show...and whether or not David Duchovny will be returning to the show.  I, for one, can't imagine a whole season without Mulder just so the Fox network can make some extra money.  Remember what happened to "Sliders" once they started taking off all the original characters?  It just wouldn't be fair for the show, for the characters of Mulder and Scully, and for the fans.  So, as fans, let's try to do something to stop this--either let the show die peacefully now and segue into a series of movies, or get all the actors back for a great season-long conclusion to the series.  Please click on the link below to read how you can help!

5/7/00 - Sorry for the delay with "Parallel," folks, but to make up for it I've added six--count 'em, six, chapters to the story. =)  That includes Ch. 16: "Still Life," Ch. 17: "Means to an End," Ch. 18: "Sense of Belonging," Ch. 19: "Opportunities," Ch. 20: "Doomed to Failure," and Ch. 21: "Roundabout."  The remaining seven chapters will all be posted at one time when I'm finished going through the whole thing so check back soon!

4/25/00 - Two more chapters of "Parallel" are done--Chapter 14: "End of the Line" and Chapter 15: "Explorations."  There's also a bit of good news in Stargateland.  One, for those of us who watch Stargate on Showtime.  Showtime has officially agreed to air the 5th season of the show, meaning we have at least two more years left. =)  And two, I realize this may not interest everyone or may be old news to some of you, according to the pwfc.org, Peter Wingfield (a.k.a Methos, the Really Old Guy, in Highlander: The Series) will probably be appearing in an episode for Stargate's 4th Season.  I tend to get a little excited at things like that. =)

4/23/00 - Two more chapters--Chapter 12: "Strangers in a New World" and Chapter 13: "Questionable Motives"--of the novel "Parallel" are up in the fiction section.

4/19/00 - Chapter 10: "Alternatives" and Chapter 11: "Promises and Compromises" of the novel "Parallel" are up in the fiction section.

4/16/00 - Chapter 8: "A Simple Plea" and Chapter 9: "Stratagem" of the novel "Parallel" are up in the fiction section.

4/13/00 - Chapter 7: "So Near, So Far" of the novel "Parallel" is up in the fiction section.

4/11/00 - Chapter 5: "Under Other Circumstances" and Chapter 6: "Illumination" of the novel "Parallel" are up in the fiction section.

4/7/00 - Chapter 3: "Chance Discovery" and Chapter 4: "Transformation" of the novel "Parallel" are up in the fiction section.  Now the real fun begins.... <eg>

4/4/00 - Well, this is going faster than I thought it'd be.  Chapter 2: "Reason" of the novel "Parallel" is now available in the fiction section.

4/2/00 - Added the full synopsis to the first season episode, "Solitudes."  Also, finally started posting the novel "Parallel" in the fiction section.  The Disclaimer and Chapter 1: "Disregarded Omens" are all that's currently available, but more will be coming soon, honest. =)

3/23/00 - As a start to our attempt of finishing some of the missing sections of this side, we've added the full synopsis to the first season episode, "Cor-Ai."  =)

3/22/00 - First things first, let me thank everyone who sent their encouragement for the Compendium after reading my plea last past week.  This site will continue, thanks especially to my new volunteer co-workers: Helen, Chad, Sea Witch, and Ina.  We have some great new ideas for the site that we're working to make reality, and we're going to try to finish some of the as-of-yet unfinished pages (i.e. synopses, character pages, etc.) scattered throughout the site.  For the time being, however, the weekly Quiz page has come down.  How long has it been since it was actually used as a weekly quiz anyway, huh?  In the future it might be brought back, but for now, say goodbye to it.  Keep checking back to see how the site's progressing and remember, if you would like to receiving notification via your email when this page has been updated, check out the Mailing List page.

3/14/00 - Finished the Season 3 Quotes page and updated the Writers and Directors pages.  If you're not in the mood to read a long spiel about the current status of my life and the future of this web site, though, I ask you to go to another page right now.  Maybe go download some MP3s from http://www.mp3.com or something.  You have been warned.

I've recently been asked why I didn't include more quotes for "Nemesis" and figured I might as well tell everyone.  I am only one person working on this web page and, to be honest, it's exhausting.  In other words, I'm currently experiencing full-fledged burnout and thinking about giving up the site.  When there are new episodes on, my weekends are pretty much taken away from me since it takes at least three to four hours to go through the episode and transcribe quotes, then another two to three hours to get the synopsis and quotes up...depending on if I'm even in the mood for writing. (If I'm not in the mood for writing, I tend to really, really procrastinate on the computer.  Let's just say I spent a good hour cleaning 150 meg off my hard drive while trying to write the synopsis for "Nemesis"...but I digress.)  Thus, spending all this time on the web site during the weekend eliminates my ability to respond quickly to emails about the site, do homework, watch anything else on TV, finish up "Parallel" (which still isn't done, BTW--most of my original betas bailed out due to RL circumstances), and just plain relax with family and friends after a busy week of school and work.  I suppose that's nobody's fault but my own for setting such a strict weekend deadline for myself about when to get the pages up, but since people seem to appreciate it, I've continued to try to do it the past year this site's been up.

Getting back to the topic of why there aren't more quotes for the latest episode, when "Nemesis" showed and my Showtime provider glitched during the middle of the episode (meaning I couldn't transcribe at least one big scene), and none of the other dialogue was important enough to spend an extra two hours copying it all down when a single paragraph or two could summarize the point just as well, I opted not to transcribe more quotes.  I extend my apologies to those who have come to expect more quotes but I had an extremely busy week last week and needed to unwind.  Working on this page was simply not letting me do that.

All that being said, I am currently considering opening up a position or two on this site.  Now that we're in rerun season, if you would like to help me out by finishing up some of the other pages (character pages, missing synopses, etc.) please send me an email with the subject line, Compendium Job Openings, at sbagley814@hotmail.com.  Likewise, if you have any ideas about how to improve/revamp the site (and seriously want to help make those changes happen), I will consider "hiring" you to help me out with the site. There are a few requirements, however:

1.  This is the big one.  You must have very good writing skills.  Proper punctuation, spelling, grammar, that kind of stuff.  If you are a fanfic writer (doesn't matter which TV series), please direct me to your stories so I can get a feel for your writing style.  If you have not written any fanfic, please send me a small sample of your writing.  I want to know what to expect.
2.  Having some basic knowledge of HTML is a plus.  It's even better if you have Microsoft Frontpage on your computer and know how to use it, but that's not a requirement.  If you don't know anything about HTML, though, don't panic--I can fill you in on the basics.  I'm more interested in finding another good writer to work on the site than finding an HTML expert.
3.  You should have a very good working knowledge of the Stargate characters and universe.  Having all episodes to date on tape is definitely a plus.
4.  You must have a decent amount of time to help me work on the site.

If you feel you qualify for all 4 of these points and are so inclined to help me out with the site, please send me an email (or résumé, if you will) explaining why you're qualified, where you're from and what season of Stargate is being shown in your area, and what episodes you've seen.  In other words, using the above 4 points, tell me about yourself.  If you're not sure if you qualify for the position but want to help anyway, please email me and explain your circumstances.  I'll get back to you once I find out how many people are interested.  And please, only email me if you're serious about working on this site and intend to follow through on your offer.

Finally, a huge thank-you to everyone who's sent encouraging comments about this site.  Without your emails, I don't know that this site would've continued throughout the whole third season.  "Stargate SG-1" has been signed up for at least one more season, most likely more because it's so popular, and I'd like to see this site continue to keep everyone as up-to-date as possible.  With your help, that's possible...but I've come to the conclusion that I simply can't do it alone anymore.  Real life won't allow me to do that.  Once again, if you're interested, my email is sbagley814@hotmail.com.  Thanks to everyone for their continued support! =)
