Synopsis: The episode opens with some vintage Stargate music and a view of a huge pyramid on P7X 377 that's connected to the Stargate by a long walkway.  Back in the Control room, Carter maneuvers the MALP along the walkway into the pyramid.  Once it's inside, they see a huge cavern.  A single walkway leads off into the distance, while everything around that walkway leads down into a huge pit.  Daniel is fascinated by the sheer size of this pyramid, while Carter is fascinated by some things called leptons and neutrinos that could change their concept of physics.  Suddenly Daniel notices something on the MALP and tells Carter to focus in on it--a crystal skull, almost exactly like the one found by an explorer in Belize back in 1971...Daniel's grandfather, Nicholas Ballard.  We cut to the opening credits.

Next scene, Daniel is showing some slides of other crystal skulls found throughout the world.  He says Nick--his grandfather insisted on being called 'Nick' by just everyone--discovered the skull and said it had a certain power.  If one were to look into the eyes of the skull, one could be teleported to a place where one could talk to aliens.  He said he had experienced it himself.  Uh-huh, right.  Not surprisingly, nobody in the academic community believed that story either...but as O'Neill pointed out, that doesn't mean he wasn't right.  After all, Daniel had believed aliens built the pyramids of Egypt and that had turned out to be right although no one believed him.  General Hammond authorizes a standard recon mission and Dr. Fraiser insists that they don't stay inside the cavern for long because there's a high level of radiation inside.

So off they go to P7X 377 where they enter the pyramid and find the huge cavern the MALP had shown before.  Carter says that muon radiation inside the cavern was increasing, but as long as it didn't get any higher, they should be fine.  The team heads across the walkway toward the skull, Daniel apparently being cured of his fear of heights from "Thor's Chariot" since he doesn't say a word or look at all uncomfortable...oops, you mean the writers didn't want me to notice that?  Sorry.  Anyway, they arrive at a platform where the skull sits on top of a stone pedestal, Carter does some readings of the neutrinos in the air, and Daniel approaches the skull and stares at it.  Suddenly, little tiny lights appear around the skull and soon engulf Daniel.  Teal'c sees this and fires his zat at the skull, but it's too late--Daniel's knocked away from the skull onto the ground and, for some reason, nobody can see him lying there.  Could he have been teleported somewhere by the skull?  At that moment, Carter announces the radiation inside the cavern is spiking.  She then promptly collapses into O'Neill's arms; he picks her up and orders Teal'c to retreat to the Stargate.  Back in the SGC, the gate dials in and O'Neill, Carter, and Teal'c come tumbling through--without Daniel.  They pass out once they hit the ramp.

Later, in the infirmary, O'Neill finally wakes up.  Fraiser tells him his hypothalamus had been affected by the radiation on the planet and, because of that, his temperature, heartbeat, and respiration were fluctuating wildly.  He asks what happened to Carter and Daniel and she says Carter's still unconscious.  As for Daniel...well, nobody knows where he is.  Teal'c says he saw a field of energy engulf Daniel, then he disappeared.  So...where is he?

In a very brief scene, we see Daniel lying in front of the skull back on P7X 377.  He's still unconscious from the blast.  Hmmm....

Back in the SGC, Hammond's using the MALP to search for any trace of Daniel inside the cavern.  However, not even the infrared sensors can pick up any signs of life.  This is not looking good.  Teal'c comes into the Control room and says his symbiote helped him recover from the radiation exposure faster than O'Neill and Carter, and he's ready to return to the planet to look for Daniel and retrieve the skull.  He has a higher tolerance to the radiation and, if the skull transports him to wherever it took Daniel, well, guess he'd have found Daniel then, huh?  Gotta love Teal'c and his devotion to his teammates. =)

So Teal'c goes back to the cavern and quickly retrieves the skull, but he still doesn't see Daniel lying there.  Daniel is recovering by this time and stands up.  He tries talking to Teal'c, but Teal'c still doesn't notice him.  After securing the skull in a contamination container, Teal'c runs back to the entrance...right through Daniel.  Holy Hannah!  That was weird.  Not surprisingly, Daniel's a little shocked by this and follows Teal'c back to the Stargate.  They go through, but still no one can see Daniel.  Well, this just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

Daniel follows Teal'c into the infirmary, where Fraiser is taking Carter's pulse and says she'll be fine--the radiation exposure wasn't enough to cause permanent damage.  O'Neill complains a bit about being stuck in bed, Fraiser insists he rest until he gets some strength back, Teal'c tells O'Neill that Robert Rothman (remember the guy who replaced Daniel in "Forever in a Day"?) is examining the skull, Daniel starts talking to himself about how the skull isn't a weapon but did something really weird to him, O'Neill falls out of bed, and Teal'c picks him up again.  How Christopher Judge was able to keep a straight face during this scene is a testament to his acting abilities because I certainly wouldn't have been able to--their timing is hilarious. =)

Next scene, we're in the science lab where Daniel is trying to coach Rothman about examining the skull...but is finding that rather difficult since Rothman can't hear him.  Rothman insists that there's nothing special about the skull other than that it's a great piece of craftsmanship and doesn't believe it when Teal'c tells him they think it's a teleportation device.  Hammond says he wants a full report in 12 hours, and Sergeant Siler encourages Rothman by telling him he thinks he'll be fired.  Awww...poor Rothman.

Inside Teal'c's room, Teal'c is performing Kel-no-reem and Daniel's sitting on the other side of the candles with his eyes closed.  He then thanks Teal'c for coming back to the planet for him, even though he knows Teal'c can't hear him.  Suddenly Teal'c's eyes open and he looks around...he heard or felt something and thinks somebody's in the room with him.  Daniel tries talking to him again, but to no avail--he can't see him.  Sigh.

Back down in the science lab, Rothman is staring at the skull when Carter comes in and yells at him to stop.  Daniel had been staring at the skull in the same way when it affected him.  Ah, but Rothman had only been trying to prove a point, that the skull wasn't responsible for what happened to Daniel.  Everyone gets frustrated and Carter takes over examination of the skull.  Daniel then wonders why he hasn't been hungry or thirsty...could he be a ghost?  Is he actually dead?  He jumps off the table he'd been sitting on and Carter freezes.  She just felt a shiver run through her....  Daniel concludes that she felt him, but that still doesn't help him.

Down in the control room, Carter announces to the others that she subjected the skull to every diagnostic test they had and came up with squat.  Hammond is readying a UAV to do a search of the area around the pyramid, but unless they find any sign of Daniel (who at that moment is actually sitting in the back of the room on top of some very expensive equipment--civilians, never know what they'll do next <g>), he won't authorize another mission to the planet and risk any more SG teams.  Carter then suggests they look into finding Daniel's grandfather.  After all, he'd discovered a skull just like this and had been teleported somewhere...maybe he's the only one who knows where Daniel is.  Fraiser (much to Daniel's annoyance) says she already took the liberty of looking up this Nicholas Ballard.  Turns out he's currently living in a psychiatric institution, having checked himself in after he couldn't replicate the teleportation that happened with that skull he found in Belize.  Daniel had been visiting him for years, but had stopped right before he joined the Stargate program.  (Daniel, meanwhile, keeps grumbling about how he and his grandfather had a huge fight and Nick kicked him out...not that anybody can hear this either. <g>)  In any case, any friends of Daniel's are welcome Nick would be more than welcome to visit him, and Hammond tells them to go see what they can find out, just keep the little matter of the Stargate secret.

Off they go to the institution, where they're eventually shown in to see Nick.  Nick comments to the psychiatrist he missed Daniel and Daniel tells him to be forthcoming with information about the skull he found in Belize.  Apparently, Daniel followed in his footsteps as an archaeologist, only they had a little falling out over certain theories.  Nick insisted he had been teleported by the skull and met aliens; while Daniel had listened to his stories, he hadn't been able to believe them.  As for Daniel, Nick couldn't believe his theory that the pyramids of Egypt were built by aliens.  Guess they both had been right, huh?  Nick tells SG-1 that he won't tell them anything about the skull unless they let him see the one they found that was identical to it.

So O'Neill talks to Hammond and asks him to to let Nick into the base and, whadda ya know, he succeeds!  O'Neill thanks him while Daniel (who had been watching this whole time) lingers behind.  He thanks Hammond for letting his grandfather into the base.  As he's leaving, the phone in Hammond's office rings and it turns out to be his granddaughter, Kayla.  Daniel stays behind to listen and Hammond tells her that, unfortunately, he won't be able to come see her in her school play because a very close friend of his is lost and needs his help.  Awww...isn't that sweet?  Daniel finally leaves.

SG-1 brings Nick down to the science lab where Rothman and Siler are still working on the skull.  Nick recognizes it immediately and tells them his story.  He found the skull in a temple in Belize, then was transported to a huge cavern where he saw giant aliens rising around him like mist.  They kept saying "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" but he was too scared to say anything to them and he closed his eyes.  Soon enough he found himself back in the temple in Belize, but then there was an earthquake.  He grabbed the skull and escaped in time, but the temple collapsed behind him.  He was never able to locate it again.  Right, o-kay.  O'Neill tells Teal'c to take Nick down to the VIP room and he and Carter (and Daniel, our invisible archaeologist) leave.  Carter says he described the cavern where they'd found the skull perfectly, but O'Neill replies that that information still doesn't help them find Daniel.  Meanwhile, Daniel's come to some conclusions--that skull had been trying to send him somewhere, but the process had been interrupted by something.  They have to go back to P7X 377 and continue where they left off.  Carter and O'Neill go off to bed, much to Daniel's dismay.  He works through the night for them but they won't for him?

Teal'c drops off Nick down in the VIP room and tells him that a guard will be posted in case he needs something.  Nick starts asking Teal'c if he sees Daniel to tell him...oh, never mind, he'd rather tell Daniel himself.  Teal'c then leaves and we see Daniel's standing in the corner of the room.  Nick continues what he'd started saying to Teal'c, that he's sorry he never adopted Daniel after Daniel's parents died when he was eight.  It wasn't Daniel's fault--Nick had been too absorbed in his work at the time and was traveling all over the world.  During this whole conversation, it comes out that Nick can--gasp!--see and hear Daniel, but he thought he'd been hallucinating.  Daniel convinces him he's not hallucinating and they go talk to Hammond and O'Neill.

Daniel has Nick repeat everything he's saying and finally the others believe that Daniel's really there, just invisible to them.  Nick presumes that the reason he can see Daniel is because he went through the same experience with the skull.  Daniel wants to go back to the planet and finish what had started--if they go now, Hammond can still see his granddaughter's school play--and Hammond agrees.  Nick, taking advantage of Daniel's invisibility, gets himself onto the team that goes back to P7X 377.  Finally, he knows what Daniel's been up to the past few years and Daniel promises to tell him everything he's been doing once they get back.

The arrive back on the planet and replace the skull as they'd first found it, and suddenly a light engulfs them. O'Neill and Carter can see Daniel again...but Teal'c can't.  He wasn't taken with them, wherever it was they went.  Hammond tells Teal'c to return to Earth and he does.  However, Daniel, Carter, O'Neill, and Nick now see some white mist swirling around them, and it soon takes on the form of a person...kinda.  (Actually, if you've seen the movie "The Mummy," think of the alien as looking kind of like a full-bodied, very white version of that sand face in the beginning...with the voice of Christopher Judge. <g>)  It says its name is Quetzalcoatl and that the enemy of his enemy is his friend.  Daniel concludes that, because Teal'c wasn't transported there with them, this alien race is an enemy of the Goa'uld so yes, they're friends.  Quetzalcoatl agrees to exchange knowledge and culture and invites Nick to stay behind.  Nick is, not surprisingly, ecstatic about this offer and agrees, promising Daniel that he'll be back one day and then they'll discuss everything they've both found.

Quotes:
Carter
: "This is well over a thousand meters high."
O'Neill: "And as pyramids go, that's...big?"
Teal'c: "I know of no Goa'uld structure of that magnitude."
Daniel: "Definitely Mayan.  This is a major find...I have to see this."
O'Neill: "Any signs of life there?"
Carter: "There is a breathable atmosphere, Sir, but no complex life signs."  They watch the monitor, and some words appear at the bottom of the playback. "This is a major find, I have to see this."
O'Neill: "You too?"
Carter: "Well, look at these readings, Sir.  These are leptons."
O'Neill: "Get out."
Carter: "Well, that means something inside this pyramid is slowing down neutrinos.  Normally neutrinos pass right through ordinary matter, no matter how dense.  I mean, something like five hundred million billion just passed through you."
O'Neill: "No matter how dense."
Carter: "Now, a material that slows neutrinos could change everything we know about physics, the formation of the universe...."
Daniel, talking about the MALP: "Wait a minute, Sam, get, ah, get closer."
Carter: "I can't, the MALP's too big to cross the span."
Daniel: "Then zoom in.  On that."
Teal'c: "It appears to be a human skull."
Daniel: "No, that's a crystal skull."
Carter: "How do you know?"
Daniel: "Because it's exactly like the one found in 1971 in Belize...by my grandfather."

Daniel, showing slides of crystal skulls: "I could name at least a dozen different crystal skulls from various parts of the world but the skull that Nick discovered in Belize was unique."
O'Neill: "Nick?"
Daniel: "Ah, yeah, the, ah, the great explorer, the not-so-great grandfather Nicholas Ballard.  He preferred being called Nick even when I was a kid.  It was, ah.... Anyway, ah, the point is that no one can explain how the skull that Nick discovered was carved from a single piece of crystal, against the grain, given the technology of the day.  He claimed that it possessed a certain...power."
Hammond: "What kind of power?"
Daniel: "That if one were to look into the eyes of the skull, one would be teleported to see...aliens."
Teal'c: "Your grandfather saw these aliens."
Daniel: "So he insisted to the entire academic community."
Fraiser: "I take it his claim didn't go over very well."
Daniel: "As you might expect, no.  Um, he tried for year under controlled conditions to make the skull teleport him again to where the aliens lived, but he...never could."
O'Neill: "Doesn't mean he wasn't right."
Carter: "The academic community didn't believe your theory that the pyramids were landing sites for alien spaceships, either."
O'Neill: "We have to see this."
Hammond: "I'll authorize a standard recon mission."
Fraiser: "Colonel, I can only guess at the effect this type of radiation may have on the human body.  I recommend limited exposure--ten, fifteen minutes at most."
Daniel: "Wait a minute, that's...that's not enough time.  I mean, there has to be some sort of radiation suit or...."
O'Neill: "Hey, if you'd been listening you'd know that Nintendos pass through everything."
Daniel: "I heard."
O'Neill: "Everything."

Teal'c: "Whoever the builders are, they would appear to be a formidable race."
Daniel: "You could fit every pyramid on Earth inside this thing and still have room to spare."
O'Neill: "Can you imagine heating this place?"

O'Neill: "Carter?  Daniel?"
Fraiser: "She's still unconscious.  Teal'c is better off than both of you--his symbiote is helping him.  It was close, Colonel.  If you hadn't left when you did...."
O'Neill: "Hot."
Fraiser: "Yes, I know, we're trying to keep your temperature down.  Muon radiation affected your hypothalamus.  Essentially, your internal thermostat went haywire.  Your respiration, temperature, and heartbeat have been fluctuating wildly."
O'Neill: "No kiddin.'"
Hammond: "As for Dr. Jackson, Colonel, he never returned with you."
Teal'c: "He is no longer there, General Hammond.  The skull enveloped him in an energy field.  I fired my zat'nik'atel but it was too late.  He seemed to disappear."

Teal'c: "Nicholas Ballard believed the crystal skull to be a teleportation device.  Recovering the skull may help up to determine the location to which he was teleported."
Hammond: "The MALP telemetry suggests the radiation levels are still too high."
Teal'c: "My symbiote provides me with a greater tolerance against the effects of radiation."
Hammond: "And if that thing zaps you to wherever it sent Dr. Jackson?"
Teal'c: "Then I will have succeeded in locating him."

Hammond: "Well done, Teal'c."
Teal'c: "Regrettably, there was no sign of Daniel Jackson."
Daniel: "So I take it nobody else can see me either."
Hammond, oblivious to the fact that Daniel is waving his arm through him: "Dr. Rothman's awaiting the artifact in Lab 3C."
Siler: "Yes, Sir."
Teal'c: "Major Carter will also want to study it."
Hammond: "As soon as she's recovered."
Daniel: "Recovered from what?  What happened?"

Fraiser: "She's going to be fine, Teal'c.  Her exposure wasn't long enough to cause any permanent damage."
O'Neill: "Doc!"
Fraiser: "You can protest all you want, Colonel, but it'll be awhile before you get your strength back so relax."
O'Neill: "Oh, come on...."
Fraiser: "Ah!  Doctor's orders."
O'Neill, after she's left: "Napoleonic power monger.  News?"
Teal'c: "Daniel Jackson was nowhere in the vicinity of the pyramid."
O'Neill: "What the hell happened to him?"
Teal'c: "I do not believe the skull is a weapon, O'Neill."
Daniel: "Well, you're right about that, it's not a weapon."
Teal'c: "It is indeed a teleportation device.  I believe the artifact..." We can't hear the rest of what he's saying because Daniel's talking at the same time.
Daniel: "No, something else happened."
Teal'c: "Dr. Rothman is now studying it."
O'Neill: "Rothman couldn't figure out an ashtray.  The guy we need working on that skull is Daniel."
Teal'c: "It is he whom we endeavor to locate, O'Neill."
O'Neill: "Look, I'm sick of layin' around.  Help me up."
Teal'c: "Dr. Fraiser believes you are not strong enough to undertake such a mission."
O'Neill, sitting up: "Yeah, whatever."  He falls flat on the floor.
Teal'c: "Dr. Fraiser is usually correct in such matters."  He picks O'Neill up and tosses him--rather roughly--onto his face on the bed.
O'Neill, face muffled by the bed: "Thank you."
Teal'c: "You are welcome, O'Neill."

Daniel: "Okay, you can do this, Robert, I know you can.  Focus on the Mayan legends, the lost pyramids of Belize, the Ballard skull.  That's where the answer is."
Rothman: "Well, it's a crystal...skull."
Hammond: "We knew that, Doctor."
Rothman: "It's almost identical to the Nicholas Ballard skull in the Smithsonian."
Daniel: "He doesn't know it was found on P7X 377."
Rothman: "Actually, the craftsmanship is very impressive.  It's probably made in Germany, early 1800s.  What I don't understand is what it has to do with Daniel being missing."
Teal'c: "We believe it to be a teleportation device."
Rothman: "Are you serious?"
Daniel: "That's good, Robert, be skeptical."
Hammond: "We were hoping your archaeological expertise would help provide insight into where he may have been sent."
Rothman, putting in nose drops: "It's a skull!"
Daniel: "Not that skeptical."
Teal'c: "I myself witnessed the artifact create a tremendous field of energy which engulfed Daniel Jackson."
Rothman: "It's made of crystal, not...plutonium.  I don't see how this could...."
Hammond: "Humor me, Doctor.  I want a full report within twelve hours."
Rothman: "Yes, Sir, I was...."
Teal'c: "Do not look directly into its eyes."
Rothman: "O...kay."
Daniel: "Don't let me down, Robert."
Rothman: "Teleportation device?  I...what do you think?"
Siler: "I think you're going to get fired."

Daniel, to Teal'c who's in the middle of performing Kel-no-reem: "Teal'c, in case I don't ever get the chance to say this, if you hadn't come back for me, I might've been stuck in that place forever.  thank you."  Teal'c suddenly opens his eyes and looks around.
Teal'c: "Is there someone present?"
Daniel: "Yes!  Yes, it's...it's me, it's Daniel.  I'm right here.  I'm right here.  Just...don't walk through me...."  Teal'c walks through him.  "It's very disconcerting."  He follows Teal'c into the hallway.  "You sensed I was in the room, you just can't see or hear me...which is a little frustrating as you may imagine."  Teal'c looks around a bit, then goes back into his room.

Carter, to Rothman who's staring at the skull: "Stop!  That is exactly what Daniel was doing when he was absorbed by the energy field."
Daniel: "That's what I've been trying to tell him."
Rothman: "I know that.  I was trying to prove something."
Fraiser: "Prove what?"
Daniel: "That the skull didn't do this."
Carter: "You don't think the skull is responsible for what happened to Daniel, do you?"
Rothman: "I'm still here."
Carter: "There was intense muon radiation at the time the energy...."
Rothman: "There is no residual radiation."
Carter: "Look, I saw what that thing is capable of."
Rothman: "Hey, I wish it was a teleportation device.  I could use it to go find Daniel.  He's my friend too, you know.  I don't think that's what we've got here.  I think what we've got here is...a paperweight.  I'm sorry, but that's my opinion."
Carter: "It's all right, I'll take it from here.  There may be properties within the crystalline structure that are invisible to the naked eye.  We should run some diagnostic tests."
Daniel, watching Fraiser get a cup of coffee for Carter: "Wait a minute, I'm not hungry or thirsty.  Why?"
Carter, to Fraiser as she hands her the cup: "Thank you."
Daniel, jumping down from the table he's been sitting on: "Because I'm dead?"  Carter freezes.
Rothman: "What?"
Carter: "Did anybody else feel that?"
Fraiser: "What?"
Daniel: "What if I'm a ghost?"
Carter: "I just got a shiver."
Fraiser: "Well, you're still feeling the after-effects of the radiation."
Daniel: "No, I think that was me...."

Carter: "I can't believe I'm going to suggest this, but...what about Daniel's grandfather?"
Daniel and O'Neill: "Nick?"
Carter: "Well, he claimed that the skull teleported him somewhere.  He may be the only person who actually knows where Daniel is."
Fraiser: "I'm...not so sure, Major.  I've already taken the liberty of looking him up."
Daniel: "Oh, you didn't."
Fraiser: "His current address is a psychiatric institution in Oregon."
O'Neill: "Psychiatric?"
Fraiser: "Apparently, his failure to prove the crystal skull was more than just a curiosity caused a severe mental breakdown from which he's never been able to fully recover.  Nick checked himself in."
Carter: "Why wouldn't Daniel have told us that?"
Daniel: "Oh, yes, by the way, he's insane."
Fraiser: "Daniel was a regular visitor there up until four years ago, right before he joined the Stargate program."
Daniel: "Oh, please, he kicked me out, we had a huge fight."
Fraiser: "Apparently Nick still talks about him all the time."
Daniel: "He wants nothing to do with me."
Fraiser: "The doctor I spoke to says any friends of Dr. Jackson's are welcome."
Daniel: "What?"
Carter: "We don't have much else to go on."
Hammond: "Find out what you can but I needn't remind you the details of this matter will have to remain classified.  That means you won't be able to tell him what happened to Dr. Jackson or where the skull was found."

Nurse: "Is there anything I can do for you?"
Teal'c: "You may take us to Nicholas Ballard immediately."
O'Neill: "He's just a little anxious to see old Nick."
Nurse: "Oh, are you close?"
O'Neill says yes, but at the same time Teal'c and Daniel say no.  Carter, thankfully, remains silent during this.
Teal'c: "Yes, extremely."
Nurse: "Well, I'll just check and see if he's ready for you."

Nick: "I miss him."
Daniel: "Hi, Nick, long time no see."
Doctor: "Would you show them in, please."
Daniel: "Nick, I need your help.  Friends of mind want to ask you about the skull you found in Belize.  Tell them everything, just trust them."
Doctor: "Nick, this is Colonel Jack O'Neill.  He's a friend of Daniel's."
O'Neill: "Doctor would you mind if we...."  The doctor leaves.
Nick: "Nick."
O'Neill: "Jack...O'Neill.  Colonel."
Nick: "Daniel followed in my footsteps."
O'Neill: "You must be very proud."
Nick: "He made a fool of himself."
Daniel: "Oh, yeah, here we go."
Nick: "He staked his entire academic career on this belief that the great pyramids of Egypt were made by aliens."
O'Neill: "Yes, well, that's...."
Nick: "He was more insane than I was.  I told him so.  I told him to forget all that nonsense."
Daniel: "Ah, wasn't nonsense, I was right."
Nick: "He lost his apartment, his research grant, he hasn't published a paper in two years.  Now where is he?  Where is he now?"
Carter: "Well, in a way, that's what this is all about.  We wanted to hear exactly what happened to you back in '71 when you first found that skull."
Nick: "Nothing happened.  There were no aliens."
Daniel: "Trust them, Nick."
Nick: "No one believed me."
O'Neill: "Daniel believed you."
Daniel: "Oh, no, no no, no don't.  Don't."
Nick: "He didn't.  He wanted to.  He did listen.  In the end, he did not believe in my theories of the skull just as I did not believe his theories of the pyramids and the aliens."
Daniel: "I guess we both were right."
O'Neill: "Nick, can you tell us what happened when you found that skull?"
Nick: "Why?"
O'Neill: "Because we found another skull, identical to the one you found in Belize."
Nick: "Show me."
Carter: "It's in a high-security facility at the moment.  But if you'd tell us about your experiences, we'd...."
Nick: "Take me there."
O'Neill: "We can't do that.  It's classified."
Daniel: "You have to."
Nick: "If you don't, then I won't tell you anything.  It's up to you."

Hammond: "Colonel, there is no greater secret in this nation than the Stargate."
O'Neill: "So we keep him away from Level 28."
Hammond: "A civilian?  Who spent the last twenty years of his life in a psychiatric institution?"
O'Neill: "Exactly!  Who's going to believe him if he says anything?"
Hammond: "Colonel, you walk a fine line."
O'Neill: "Thank you, Sir."  He leaves and the telephone on Hammond's desk rings.
Hammond: "Hammond."
Daniel: "General, I know you can't hear me, but thank you."  He turns to go but ends up staying behind to listen to Hammond's telephone call.
Hammond: "Absolutely.  Put her through.  Kayla, Sweetheart, this is Grandpa.  Isn't this past your bedtime? ...  You lost another tooth.  Well, you put it under your pilla' tonight.  I bet your big sister Tessa wishes she lost a tooth. ...  I'd love to come to see you in your school play tomorrow night, Sweetheart, but can't....  Well, a very close friend of mind is lost and he needs my help.  Yes, he's a very close friend.  I hope so too."  It's obvious Daniel is touched by this, and he finally leaves.

Carter: "Nick, this is Dr. Robert Rothman."
Rothman: "It's a pleasure to meet you."  Nick ignores him.
Nick: "It's exactly the same as the one I found in Belize.  Where did you find it?"
O'Neill: "We can't tell you that."
Daniel: "You're going to have to tell him eventually, Jack."
Nick: "The skull stood on a stone pedestal.  You have been there, haven't you?"
Carter: "You mean, Belize?"
Nick: "No no no no no.  That was the ruins of the temple where I found the skull.  And that is all gone, collapsed.  I am talking about a cavern."
Teal'c: "Do you know the location of this cavern?"
Nick: "Nowhere on this Earth.  It was so enormous that the light of my torch never reached the bottom."
Daniel: "Yes, but how did you get there?"
Nick: "I don't know how I got there.  A field of energy surrounded me and suddenly I was simply...there.  And then they came."
Carter: "They?"
Nick: "The giants."
Carter: "Giants."
Nick: "The giant aliens.  They rose up as if they were made of mist.  They flew around me like specters."
Daniel: "Now you know why no one believed him."
Nick: "And they spoke, Oo ya wolin wolin we tayil."
Rothman: "That's Mayan.  'The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Daniel, speaking at the same time as Rothman: "'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.' Yes, but what does it mean?"
Nick: "I was afraid to answer.  I just closed my eyes and suddenly I found myself back again under the temple in Belize, and the ground was shaking as an earthquake.  And I just grabbed the skull and...climbed out and everything collapsed."
O'Neill: "Wow.  That's, ah...giants."
Carter: "So you were sent to this cavern and back again without ever knowing where it was.  And the ruins where you found the skull?"
Nick: "I spent years trying to find it again, but it was as if the temple never existed."
Carter: "So I guess you couldn't take us there, either."
Nick: "Can you imagine what it feels like to go on the most incredible journey of your life...and have no one believe you?"
O'Neill: "Ah, Teal'c, you wanna escort Nick down to the VIP room?"
Teal'c: "Nicholas Ballard, come with me please."
O'Neill: "So...tell you anything?"
Rothman: "Ah, maybe.  I mean, ah...no."
O'Neill: "Work on it."

Carter: "He described the caverns perfectly, Sir.  He had to have been there."
O'Neill: "Ah, giants?"
Daniel: "Yes, that's weird, I admit."
Carter: "Well, somebody built that place."
O'Neill: "Didn't help us."
Daniel: "But if he really was transported to P7X 377, maybe the skull was trying to send me somewhere and something interrupted the process."
Carter: "Do you get the feeling that Daniel's still around?"
Daniel: "We have to go back there."
O'Neill: "Kinda."
Carter: "I guess it's 'cause we miss him."
Daniel: "And we have to talk to those giant aliens."
O'Neill: "Or...radiation sickness."
Carter: "Goodnight, Sir."
Daniel: "What?  That's it?  Whatever happened to working through the night?  I do it for you."

Nick: "When you see Daniel, will you tell him I...well, never...never mind, it's something I should tell him myself."
Teal'c: "Very well."  He leaves.
Nick: "I am sorry."
Daniel: "For what?"
Nick: "For not adopting you when your parents died."
Daniel: "You were traveling all over the world."
Nick: "It wasn't your fault."
Daniel: "I was eight years old, how could it be my fault?"
Nick: "I am sorry for allowing my obsession to drive me to madness."  He turns and looks directly at Daniel.  "Will you forgive me?"
Daniel: "You can see me?"
Nick: "Yes, Daniel, I can see you."
Daniel: "Why didn't you say something?!"
Nick: "You're not real so it doesn't mean anything."
Daniel: "No no no no no, Nick, Nick, I'm real.  I'm real.  You're not hallucinating."
Nick: "Hallucinations always say that."
Daniel: "Not this time, Nick.  The skull, the skull did this to me.  I'm, I'm trapped, I'm in another dimension, I'm out of phase, something.  Look, all I know is I need your help.  If you don't help me, I don't know how I'm going to get home."
Nick: "So what do you want me to do?"

Nick: "Forgive me.  He insisted.  Daniel is here."
Hammond: "Here?"
Daniel: "Repeat what I'm saying.  I'm standing right beside you."
Nick: "Standing right beside me."
O'Neill: "He's lost a few pounds."
Daniel: "Jack, don't be an ass."
Nick: "Jack, don't be an ass."
O'Neill: "Daniel?"
Daniel: "Yes!  We have to go back to the planet and we have to let the skull finish what it started."
Nick: "We must go back to the planet."
Hammond: "Planet."
O'Neill: "Ah, not a word, Sir, I swear."
Nick: "Daniel told me all about the Stargate.  We must replace the skull on the pedestal so that the giant aliens will come.  Something must have interrupted the process."
O'Neill: "Ah...Teal'c fired a zat, that's all I can imagine it would be, Sir."
Daniel: "That's it. That's what interrupted the process.  We have to...we have to let it happen, we have to...we have to trust it."
Hammond: "Why didn't you say something sooner?"
Nick: "I thought I was hearing voices.  It wouldn't have been the first time."
Fraiser: "Forgive me, but why are you the only person who can see him?"
Nick: "Perhaps because I went through the same experience."
Daniel: "Tell General Hammond that if we go back right now, he might be able to see his granddaughter's school play after all."
Nick: "General Hammond, if you let us go now, you may be able to see your granddaughter's play."
Hammond: "I was alone in my office when Kayla phoned.  Dr. Jackson, are you absolutely certain you and SG-1 can safely return to the planet?"
Daniel: "Say 'yes.'"
Nick: "Yes."
O'Neill: "That's good enough for me, Sir."

O'Neill: "So, it wasn't the skull alone that did this, it was a connection to the cavern?"
Daniel: "Yes, I think the skull is just the icon that represents the human form."
Nick: "Yes."
O'Neill: "Daniel said you should come along to make it work?"
Daniel: "Wait, I never said that.  You're taking advantage of me."
Nick: "Yes."

Nick: "So this is what you have been doing these past few years."
Daniel: "Exploring planets."
Hammond: "SG-1, you have a go.  Maintain radio contact."
Nick: "Then behind that is another world.  You must tell me everything."
Daniel: "As soon as we get back, I promise."

Nick: "Now we must wait for the giant aliens."
O'Neill: "That just has a nice ring to it."

O'Neill: "Carter?"
Carter: "It appears that we're out of phase like Daniel, but Teal'c isn't."
Daniel: "Why?"
O'Neill: "You're asking me?"

O'Neill: "Holy...smoke!  Bullwinkle.  Hello!  what's your name?"
Quetzalcoatl: "Quetzalcoatl.  Oo ya wolin wolin we tayil."
O'Neill: "Daniel?"
Daniel: "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
O'Neill: "I know what it's saying, why's it saying that?"
Daniel: "It didn't affect Teal'c, why?"
Carter: "Because he's Jaffa."
Daniel: "He's carrying a symbiote.  The Goa'uld.  We are enemies of the Goa'uld."
Quetzalcoatl: "Then you are welcome here."
O'Neill: "Keep talking."
Daniel: "We're travelers.  We come in search of friendship.  We'd like to exchange our knowledge and culture."
Quetzalcoatl: "We accept your proposition.  You may remain."
Nick: "Me?"
O'Neill: "Him?"
Quetzalcoatl: "This is not the first time you have journeyed here."
Nick: "You remember!"
Daniel: "there are others among our people who would gladly return...."
Nick: "No, Daniel, let me."
Daniel: "Nick...."
Nick: "This was my life's work.  I've been hoping for another chance at this for 29 years.  Please."
Daniel: "You just came back into my life."
Nick: "I'll be back again.  Please."
Quetzalcoatl: "Look again into the eyes of the skull."
O'Neill: "Well, Nick, take notes."
Nick: "I will."
Daniel: "You have to tell me everything."
Nick: "I promise.  Daniel, I am proud of you."
Daniel: "Goodbye...Grandpa."
