midterms...
How many times have I seen him lying there, dead or nearly so, hurt,
critical, or tortured? How many times have I fought to save his life?
Prayed that this breath wouldn’t be his last? And how many times have I
sworn to myself that if he wakes, if he survives this time, that I’ll tell
him how I feel? I’ll tell him how my heart stops when I see him hurt, how I
lock myself away and cry until I have no more tears when I think maybe I’ll
lose him.
How many times have I not told him?
