DISCLAIMER: Stargate doesn't belong to me, it belongs to them people who own it who aren't me.
SPOILERS: "Curse"
AUTHORS' NOTE: This is why this is part 0, not part 1. I live in Colorado, and have been many times to Colorado Springs. Beautiful part of the state. Any way, in one of the following parts, we will get to see an outsider going into Cheyenne Mountain. I was in AFJROTC for 3 years before it got to a problem in conjunciton wiht my IB coursework. During those three years I have been to and inside of Cheyenne Mountain. I did not have to sign anything about the insides of the mountain being classified, etc., so the descriptions of the road up to, the check points, the security methods, the admin building, the Canadian soldiers, the tunnel, doors, and the inside of NORAD are real. I've been there and seen them all. And it is very loud between the hydralic doors and the Entrance to the base itself, you can't hear yourself think. :-) Otherwise, everything else is pretty much as we've seen it on the show. Daniel's and Janet's respective apartments are made up though, because up until two weeks ago I hadn't seen the inside of Daniel's place and I've never seen Janet's. I decided to rewrite "The Curse" not because it was bad(I loved it), but I thought it would be interesting to see Sarah interact with SG-1 and see her reaction to many things on the show. Don't worry, there is S/J and D/J. Anywho, on with the show.

Sarah stepped off the plane and into the Colorado Springs Airport. She was still a little jumpy; the plane had hit heavy turbulence right before landing. She didn't have anything beyond her carry-on and briefcase, so, after asking where she could find the car rentals, she made her way down the terminal. As she made her way past the final gate from New York, she saw something, or rather someone, that made her pause. A man who looked just like Daniel had just walked out of the New York gate. He had the same hair, glasses... She wasn't close enough to hear his voice, but she'd bet her life that it was him.

She was about to call out his name when he came into clear view. He was walking with two women. The blond on his right was about the same height, with close-cropped hair. The brunette also had relatively short hair, but she was shorter than the other two. All three looked as though they'd recently gotten some sun. They were joined quickly by a tall man with grayish hair and a girl about twelve years old. One of them, she couldn't tell who, said something that caused them all to start laughing as they walked off. She followed them until she reached the rental outlet. String after them, she waited until they were out of sight to go up to the counter.

Two days later, she'd gotten settled in her hotel room and had set up a meeting with Darren Harper, the curator at the Pioneer Museum. She'd also looked Daniel up in the white pages, to find out if it was really him that she had seen before. He was there. The night before, she'd found his apartment, but he wasn't home. She grabbed her purse and keys and left her room. She had plans to try again.

Rush hour was just about over when she reached I-25, so it did not take long to reach Daniel's exit. From there, it took five minutes of navigating to reach the apartment complex. Her heart beat faster when she realized that his light was on. She sat in her rental for a moment gathering her courage to go up there. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed her purse and got out of the car.

When she reached the second floor apartment, she took another deep breath and knocked on the door. Within seconds, she heard running footsteps and a young girl's voice yelling "I'll get it," followed closely by a more mature voice replying, "No, Cass, I'll get it," right before the door flew open and Sarah stepped back. The tall blond woman she'd seen at the airport was standing there with the young girl she'd also seen.

"Go back to your movie, Cassy," the woman told the girl before turning her attention back to Sarah. "Can I help you?"

"Hi. I was... uhh... looking for Daniel Jackson? I'm a friend of his."

"Oh. Ok, come in. He's in the kitchen, I'll get him for you," She opened the door wider and gestured her in. "Hold on."

Sam closed the door behind the stranger and walked into the small kitchen. Daniel Janet were in there fixing the salad; standing close together and occasionally brushing hands. "Daniel," she interrupted after a moment of watching them, "there's someone at the door for you."

Janet and Daniel glanced at each other and he shrugged. "I'll be right there," he said in Sam's general direction as he wiped off his hands. While Janet did the same, he walked into the main room. Sam had sat down again on the couch next to Teal'c, who was again wearing his baseball cap, and Cassy who were watching a movie. He glanced at his friends briefly as he made his way to the entryway. He stopped short when he saw who it was. "Sarah?"

"Hello, Daniel," she said in her soft British accent.

"What are you doing here?" he asked while giving her a quick hug.

"I'm in town on business. I saw you and your... friends at the airport two days ago, but I didn't know for sure that it was you until I found your address in the phone book." She looked past him, noticing Janet and Jack looking their way. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I? If this is a bad time, I can leave."

"We were just about to sit down to dinner." Making a spur of the moment decision, he added, "You're welcome to join us."

"I don't want to intrude."

"No, come on. It's no problem. Come in, I'll introduce you." He led her into the living room where everyone looked at him expectantly. "Guys, this is Sarah Leaver, a friend of mine friend college. Sarah, this is Samantha Carter, Cassandra Frasier, Murray Jacobs(he made that up two seconds before he said it), Jack O'Neill, and Janet Frasier. They're friends of mine."

There was a round of "hi's" and "nice-to-meet-you's" before everyone fell silent again. Daniel took it all in, then said, "Uh, please, make yourself at home. I'll go get another plate set for the table." He waited until she was seated at one end of the couch before going into the kitchen. Janet followed him in and found him leaning against the counter, his back to her. She walked to him and wrapped her arms around him from behind.

"You ok?" she asked against his back.

"Yeah. I was just surprised to see her. I only saw her briefly at the funeral..." He turned and pulled Janet tighter into his arms. They stood like that for a couple minutes before Janet pulled away. She reached up and kissed him lightly before saying,

"I'll get the dishes, you get the silverware?"

"Ok." They separated and set about their tasks. After the table was reset, Daniel tucked back into the kitchen to check the timer on the oven. When he returned, he announced, "We've got about ten minutes left before dinner's done. Anyone want anything to drink?"

All but Sarah already had drinks, and she decided to wait for the meal. Janet had sat down next to her daughter on the floor, with Sam and Jack on the other end of the couch Sarah was sitting on and Teal'c reclining on the other couch. Daniel took a seat on the other side of Cassy on the floor and turned his attention to the movie. They were watching American President, Teal's choice because he'd thought it would help him understand the US government better. It didn't, but he enjoyed it any way.
